          HAPPY BIRTHDAY AMERICA!

Welcome to the first page of our July Newsletters.  The other 9 pages can be found by clicking on the tabs in the blue section on the left side of this page.  By clicking on those tabs, you can view more photos of Units For Sale and Rent, Resort Updates, our Outstanding Facilities and more.  Also check out our Staff and Workcampers page.  We add staff for the upcoming season frequently, so be sure to check out your favorite staff members who are returning next season and the new ones you will meet in the fall.  We have added photos of our new assistant managers, Rebecca and Bob Annuziata and information for you to check out.  We hope you browse through the pages to see more of our Resort.

                                      July 4th Party

Summer has officially arrived.  Once again we had our annual 4th of July picnic. Twenty very happy residents had a great time celebrating the birth of our wonderful country, the greatest on earth, and paying tribute to our soldiers proudly serving to keep us all free.  Scot cooked hot dogs and Brats on the grill while everyone else brought sides and desserts such as watermelon, strawberries and angel food cake, potato salad, baked beans, cupcakes and Cynthia's famous "DIRT" dessert.  Thanks for the worms, Cynthia.  I understand the dessert was a big hit.  Who knew dirt could taste so good.  Be sure to ask her about that recipe when you come back this fall!

                  Hurricane "Alex" Update

This summer has brought torrential rains, flooding and tornadoes back home for many of you.  At Mission Bell-Trade Winds, we have had a lot of rain; but thankfully no major flooding or tornadoes.  We did have hurricane Alex
"try" to pay us a visit, but we were ready.  In preparation, our great staff got to work right away, just in case we needed it.  First, they filled sand bags to protect the buildings, taped all windows etc..., put all outdoor furniture away safely in the shops,  and put all our park equipment inside.  Next, they filled water jugs for safety measures in case they were needed.  Now for the good part.  To provide shelter from the storm, we opened the Tradewinds Hall during the storm and provided a bean supper for everyone.  We wanted to be sure our residents had a place to go if they felt they needed the shelter or the company.  We put notices in everyones mail box the day before so they would all know about the shelter, the dinner and the fellowship opportunity.  Over 20 people attended.  Alex did bring us about 6 inches of rain but it was spread out over many hours.  We are now wondering if this was a secret "plot" to have a party and get some great bean soup!  We had no damage.  Everyone had a great time at the dinner.   Scott, Cynthia, Curv, Kathy, Javier, Hope and J.R. all did a great job and we are thankful for all they did.  Thank you Sally Anderson for the delicious bean soup.  It was fantastic.

We have already told you that this past season was our best ever.  Our reservations are strong.  Our premium and deluxe lots are going fast.  Our Resort is filling up as we have added many new permanent units recently.  We are now out of all mobile home lots.  Those of you that got one are lucky.  Due to strict City of Mission Regulations on bringing in mobile homes, we will not be adding any others, at least in the foreseeable future.

We only have one park palace lot remaining, which will accomodate a unit up to 48' in length.  We do have some nice park model sites available with 50 amp service and large cement pads.  Since last March, 9 mobiles and two new park models have been brought into our Resort.  We appreciate the confidence our guests have in us and the investment they are making as we do the same to earn your loyalty and trust.

For those of you looking for a unit to buy or rent, please visit our Units For Sale and Rent page to check for updates and new listings.  We have a few units for sale at the present; it is not necessary to wait for the newsletters to check our new additions because we add new rentals and units for sale to this site as soon as they come up.  So keep checking for sales and rentals.

We are continuing our commitment to make Resort improvements and upgrades.  At present, our staff is hard at work making the Resort ready for next season.  You can get an idea of what they are working on this summer while many of you are away by clicking on the Resort Updates navigation button located on your left side of this page.

                           Richard and Sheila Orange:
Making Music With Larry & Friends

We love to report on the activities of our guests in the off season, especially when it shows those giving back to their communities.  This photo was sent to us courtesy of Ray and Joann Leatherwood.  It shows Sheila and Richard Orange (and their band) making the lives of people around them better.  When they stay with us, Sheila and Richard stay on the Trade Winds side of our Resort.  They are regulars in our Trade Winds jams, which are very popular with our residents.

When away from Mission Bell-Trade Winds, they have a great time playing all over the place at other jams, senior centers and senior care homes.  They play in a group called Larry and Friends.  The
Oranges believe they are lucky to have some really good musicians in their group.

This photo one was taken at "Vintage" Senior Care home in El Dorado, Kansas.  They have been playing there monthly for sometime now.   Although one of their members has relocated to Colorado Springs, they still play there occasionally.  Sheila says it is AMAZING to see their faces LIGHT UP when they see us the band coming to play!  One of their "REGULARS" will be "100" next May.  They ARE planning to be there for his birthday!  Way to go Shelia and Richard Orange.

                                          Gone Fishin'

We love to get summer reports on our guests to stay in touch.  Mary Lou and Arlin Stolle spend their summers up in Algoma Wisconsin when they are not enjoying our Resort.  Mary Lou has reported in to us on all the rain they have been getting this summer and the cool weather.  She sent me this photo of one of Arlin's "catches."  Apparently, all the rain has not had a negative impact on the fishing.  All we want to know is:  When is dinner?  What a catch, Arlin.

Iowa Reunion July 29, 2010

We look forward to getting more photos of our guests and their summer activities.  Particularly of the annual reunion being planned in George Iowa this summer on July 29th.  It will be an all-day event.  If you would like to attend or want more information, please email our activities director, Audrey Fedders:
aff41021@gmail.com.  Otherwise, you will need to wait for the next newsletter for photos.

Audrey is planning a costume party next season (among many other things).  So please come prepared with your favorite costume.  It promises to be a blast.  We already told you we also will likely have a Hawaiian luau so you can come prepared for that too with your grass skirts, printed shirts and coconuts????  Start getting your things together now.

Thank you again for a great season.  Stay tuned for more details in our future newsletters.

See you in the fall,

Bob and Christina
