Resort News
In a word, our Resort looks: "SPECTACULAR!" We continue our investment in renovations of the Resort by making many extensive repairs and time consuming major improvements. Since last May, we have completed dozens of Resort repairs and upgrades, and our staff is still working on more over the next month to get ready for the official start of the season in October. On this page are photos of all we have been doing so keep scrolling all the way to the bottom because we have posted lots of pictures for you.
Our fabulous staff has painted nearly every building on the property this summer. That is a lot of paint when you consider that we have almost 35,000 S.F. of recreation halls, dance facilities, wood working shops, pool halls and exercise rooms under roof! That does not count our pump houses for both our pools, our huge west side maintenance shed, and our east side laundry/shower/post office buildings. All totaled, our staff has painted about 40,000 S.F. of buildings with not just one color, but three to give our Resort a beautiful designer look. This took them considerably more time to achieve than using simply one or two colors.
West Side Upgrades and Improvements
In addition to designer paint colors above on our 10,000 S.F west hall, we have added lots of new landscaping around the entire building along with a drip system tom make sure things grow and keep growing. The building looks stunning and we cannot wait for all the new bushes to reach maturity. The photos do not do it justice.
Above are photos of the rear of the hall, wood shop and maintenance buildings which also got designer colors. Our staff spared no time or expense in getting a very polished look. We also have added several new flag poles to welcome all our guests, whether it be from our many northern states in the USA or from Canada. Our Canadian flags are taking longer to arrive and we be put up just as soon as we get them.
Above are photos of the newly remodeled west side laundry room. It has new flooring and new paint to go with the new mud sink we put in previously. It looks so nice. Hope has done an excellent job polishing and cleaning it for your arrival.
The new roof on the palapa looks great. The entire shuffleboard area has been redone with new fencing, new score boards and four new shuffleboard courts. This area looks terrific. All the benches are either new or redone. We have also added lots of nice plants and planters in this area, making it a very inviting and popular social area for our guests. Above shows improvements to the west swimming pool area: the wrought iron swimming pool fence has been painted. In addition, the pool deck has been cleaned and painted along with the pump house and shower area. Keep in mind that all of these painted areas were first cleaned, power washed and painted with special primers. Then various types of paint for the pool decks, the wrought iron pool fencing and buildings were all different. It was a huge amount of work. Scot and Cynthia Swafford take top honors as being named the best managers our Resort has ever had, along with Will and Carol Smith and Alabama as being top work camper and office staff.
New Roofs Throughout the Resort
We put installed or put up new roofs in various areas in the Resort:
(1) the 3,500 S.F. Office building, which also houses our east pool hall, business center and exercise room;
(2) our east side shower/mail/laundry room 2,700 S.F. building;
(3) the west side palapa (the ramada for social gatherings; and
(4) the roof over the small building the housing the east swimming pool shower and electronics for the swimming pool.
The metal roof on our 20,000 S.F grand recreation and dance hall was re-coated with special materials last January and the roof on our 10,000 S.F. west hall was completely re-roofed two years ago. he building restoration of the exterior of the grand hall in addition to painting it with new, sleek colors. The result is classic and upscale. We also had every palm tree in the Resort trimmed. Our staff continues trimming and maintaining the landscaping throughout the Resort this summer.
East Side Photos Of Improvements and Upgrades
All the many palm trees on the west and east side of the Resort have been trimmed. We have nearly 100 so it was a big job. The
landscaping we put in front of the grand hall is now flourishing, thanks to the drip system we
added and the plants Audrey and Mike helped us put in. We have also
added some new plants and done a little more "tweaking" of what we
planted. We also put in 99 bushes along the fence near the horse shoe
pits in the east recreation area, also with a drip system. They are
also growing quickly and doing well. They will enhance the landscaping
significantly.
Our biggest and most aggressive project of installing brand new, raised roofs for the east office and the east shower/laundry/mail room buildings. With almost 6,000 square feet of building to cover, it was a huge job. The contractor we hired did a superb job. Below are photos of the work-in-progress.

Canadian Flags are on order and will be added too.

The Garden & Fountain Area Make Relaxing A Must.
Painting on the pillars leading to the East Pool along with the picnic benches have been painted. The swimming pool wall, wrought iron fencing and out buildings in the swimming pool area were also power-washed, primed and painted. All benches throughout the Resort have been painted and refurbished for you to sit on and enjoy the Resort surroundings. Even the shuffleboard signs are painted.
We cannot thank our Resort staff enough for all the work they have done and continue to do during our off-season. We
think we have the best staff in the entire Rio Grande Valley. So much work has been done that you will
have to do a "double-take" when you arrive in the fall; you won't believe your
eyes and might think you have arrived at a brand new Resort. We intend to make you proud residents of Mission Bell-Trade Winds RV Resort, offering you a high quality Resort for an excellent value.
More Summer Resort Projects
Audrey and activities will be working on a plan to improve the landscaping and the area behind the east side shuffleboard courts as soon as she arrives in October. We are all looking forward to improvement in that activities area.
We are continuing our new website design. We have a new landing page and will soon have new colors on it as well. We have posted new photos for the west side of the resort too on the Internet.
You will notice that the former "Newsletter" navigation button has been replaced on our main website with this one, which is: "Resort Updates & Improvements." We have been sending you shorter newsletters a couple of times a month, so it seemed redundant to call this page our newsletter too.
We now have a "Customer Testimonials" page also to allow you to make comments for others to see. We appreciate those of you that have taken the time to send in testimonials already to let those considering staying at our Resort know more about how our customers feel about our great staff and facilities. If you would like to send in a testimonial from last year's stay, please email it to: stay@missionbellrvresort.com
Units For Sale and Rent
We have a few units for sale and rent. Just click on the navigation button on the left side of this page near the top in the blue section. It is possible that a few more may come on at the last minute. But if you want a unit for the season, we strongly recommend you get one quickly and not wait because you may not get one later. They will go quickly now that the season has arrived.
New Staff Additions
We have just added the last of the work campers for the upcoming season to our Staff and Work Campers page. Please have a look at those who will be helping out next season to make your winter stay with us a fabulous experience. We hope you take the time to read about all our returning and new work camping staff. The come from all over the country and have a varied and interesting set of experiences and interests. We are confident you will enjoy meeting them. Most will be arriving in October.
Reservations Update
Our reservations are up over 30% from last year. A few of our returning customers who did not reserve at the end of last season have had to learn the hard way that their favorite lot has already been rented, requiring them to choose an alternative. We are now down to about only 15 deluxe lots and 2 premium lots remaining. You need to call immediately if you want one of those.
Specials and Discounts
Our "Bring A Buddy Discount" ends September 15, 2011 so please reserve now if you want to take advantage of that. From September 15, 2011, through December 30, 2011, we are offering a "Park Model Discount" consisting of a six-month rate for two years for any guests bringing into the Resort a new or management-approved park model. This reduced rate is to help offset the cost of moving a unit into the Resort. We have about 6 very nice park model sites left for this discount. So please call the office if you want to take advantage of that special.
We wish you a pleasant trip down to the Rio Grande Valley this fall. See you SOON!
